What a race!  What a weekend!  We unveiled the new RX 7 - our baby and the pride of the fleet.  We were sorely disappointed not to have the new RX 3 -- unknown to us, her bottom was too rusted out (no comments, please) and she wasn't to be a part of this or any other race.  We'd already invested lots of money and even more time and love -- it was sorely disappointing.  But the RX 7 was there, gorgeous, shiney, not a dent and not a rattle.  She was incredible, as depicted in this photo by Doug Chase.

We started 3 cars and finished 3 cars - a Fling Pu FIRST!  there were stories and stories -- not the least of which was our service goddess Kala  driving the ambulance down the highway sideways at 60 -- without two wheels on one side.  She didn't roll it, she didn't ditch it, and she quickly moved all our stuff out of the rig into the back of a truck and loaded up 3 folks, 2 dogs and enough fuel for 3 -- we finished Doo Wops!  She even made it to 1st service before we all left.

thank god for great service crew!

One of our most amazing feats was that Shadd was on fire !  The Screamin chicken definitely screamed all weekend, from Blue slough,

where he and Rich Kaston set blistering times, to Brooklyn Stage, where it's amazing they didn't die.   In the end they were first on both Saturday and Sunday in Group 5, first overall 2WD finishers, and didn't break anything all weekend.  Even the exhaust system stayed attached!

So many stories:  a dead starter, a clutch piston that disintegrated and got fixed on stage, an ambulance too heavy to tow by anyone in Aberdeen.  Definitely our favorite rally of all time!  Shadd ended up 1st G5 on both days, Pat/Eric were 3rd on Sat and Ben/Rob 3rd on Sunday.  It was a Fling Pu weekend to remember.

These photos were taken by Ben Rhode -- many thanks, Ben!
